About Our Slavic Hair Extensions

What is Slavic hair and why is it the best?

Slavic hair is collected from donors of Slavic ethnicity — primarily from Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe. It has a naturally fine diameter, intact cuticle layer, and extraordinary softness that Indian, Brazilian, or Asian hair cannot replicate. At LuxHairNYC every strand is 100% authentic single-donor Slavic hair sourced directly from Eastern European donors.

What is the difference between virgin and non-virgin Slavic hair?

Virgin Slavic hair has never been chemically treated — no dye, no bleach, no perms, no relaxers. It is in its completely natural state from the moment it was cut from the donor. Non-virgin Slavic hair may have been professionally colored. At LuxHairNYC we carry both — virgin hair is our most premium option, while our colored Slavic hair is treated using gentle methods that preserve cuticle integrity.

What is premium baby hair or kids hair?

Premium baby hair refers to virgin Slavic hair collected from young donors. This is the rarest and most luxurious hair available in the extension market. It is naturally finer in diameter, extraordinarily soft, and carries a natural shine impossible to replicate artificially. It is our most costly hair and the most sought-after by NYC's top stylists and discerning clients.

Is your hair single-donor?

Yes — every ponytail and bundle we sell comes from a single donor. We never mix hair from multiple heads in one bundle. This guarantees consistent texture, porosity, curl pattern, and color throughout every piece — essential for a seamless, natural blend after installation.

Is the hair ethically sourced?

Absolutely. Every strand is ethically sourced from willing donors who are fairly compensated. We work directly with trusted collectors in Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe who maintain strict ethical sourcing standards. We do not purchase hair from mass production facilities or unethical supply chains.

Can I color or bleach Slavic hair extensions?

Yes — 100% virgin Slavic hair accepts color beautifully because the cuticle is fully intact and the hair has never been previously processed. Use cream-based professional color rather than toners or purple shampoos, especially on blonde hair. We recommend consulting a professional colorist. All color modifications are done at your own risk and are not eligible for return or exchange.

How long do Slavic hair extensions last?

With proper care, our Slavic hair extensions last 12 months or more. Virgin Slavic hair can last 2–3 years because the intact cuticle layer makes it significantly more durable than processed alternatives. The hair can be reused multiple times — simply re-bonded or re-taped by your stylist at each appointment.

Extension Methods – K-Tip, Tape-In, Weft & More

What is the difference between K-tip and tape-in extensions?

K-tip extensions use individual strands with a small keratin bond fused to your natural hair using a heat tool. They provide 360-degree movement, are virtually undetectable, and last 4–6 months before reapplication. Tape-in extensions use thin weft strips with medical-grade adhesive tape that lies flat against the scalp. They install in under 2 hours and can be reused 3–4 times. K-tips suit finer hair and natural movement; tape-ins are great for faster installation and a flat, seamless result.

How many strands do I need for a full head of K-tip extensions?

Most clients need between 100 and 150 strands for a standard full-head K-tip application. Very thick hair or extra volume may require more. We recommend consulting your stylist before ordering to ensure you purchase the right amount for your specific hair type and desired result.

Do K-tip extensions damage natural hair?

No — when applied and removed correctly by a licensed professional, K-tip extensions cause zero damage. Keratin is a natural protein already present in your hair. Problems only occur with improper application, leaving them in too long, or removal without professional assistance. We always recommend professional installation and reapplication every 8–12 weeks.

Can I wash, blow-dry, and heat style my extensions?

Yes. Slavic hair extensions can be treated just like your own hair — wash, blow-dry, curl, and straighten as normal. Heat styling is permitted up to 350°F (180°C) with a quality heat protectant applied. Always wash with sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and follow with moisturizing conditioner. Detangle from ends upward using a wide-tooth comb, being gentle around bond points.

What extension method is best for fine hair?

Virgin Slavic hair K-tip extensions are the best choice for fine hair. Because Slavic hair is naturally fine in diameter, it blends seamlessly with fine natural hair without creating visible bulk or weight. Micro or nano K-tip bonds (0.3–0.8 grams per strand) are especially gentle and undetectable on fine hair types. Tape-in extensions are also an excellent option for fine hair due to their flat, lightweight application.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final — we do not accept returns or transfers on hair products. This is standard practice in the hair extension industry to ensure hygiene and product integrity. We strongly encourage you to review all product specifications, weights, lengths, and photos carefully before purchasing. Our team is always available to answer questions before you buy.

How do I care for my Slavic hair extensions?

Wash with sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo only. Follow with moisturizing conditioner. Heat style up to 350°F with heat protectant applied. Detangle from ends upward using a wide-tooth comb. Avoid conditioner or oils directly on bond or tape points. Store in a silk or satin pouch when not in use. Have reapplication done every 6–12 weeks by a licensed professional.

Will the extensions shed or tangle?

Minor initial shedding may occur immediately after trimming bond ends — this is completely normal. Because our hair is single-donor with intact cuticles and never mixed, tangling is minimal compared to processed or multi-donor hair. Daily brushing from ends upward and proper moisture will keep your extensions tangle-free throughout their lifespan.
